LGBTQ+ Resources

USA Libraries are dedicated to creating and maintaining diverse collections, programs, and exhibits, as well as providing an accessible, inclusive, welcoming, and safe environment where communities can gather, discuss, and grow. The purpose of this library guide is to highlight the LGBTQ+ resources available from both the Marx Library and surrounding community. This guide includes a variety of resource types, ranging from research tools to personal supports to community engagement.

National Organizations

Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network
GLSEN was founded by a group of teachers in 1990 who believed that educators play key roles in creating affirming learning environments for LGBTQ+ youth. But as well as activating supportive educators, GLSEN also believes in centering and uplifting student-led movements, which have powered initiatives like the Day of Silence, Ally Week, and more.
GLAAD
Founded in 1985, GLAAD is a non-profit organization focused on LGBTQ advocacy and cultural change. GLAAD works to ensure fair, accurate, and inclusive representation and creates national and local programs that advance LGBTQ acceptance.
Human Rights Campaign
The Human Rights Campaign and Human Rights Campaign Foundation fight to make equality, equity and liberation a reality for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) people.
National LGBTQ Task Force
The National LGBTQ Task Force builds power, takes action, and creates change to achieve freedom, justice, and equity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people. As the progressive voice of the LGBTQ movement and the LGBTQ voice of the progressive movement, the National LGBTQ Task Force organizes people and money in pursuit of liberation for all.
