What is a Non-USA-Affiliated User?

FACULTY FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF MOBILE, SPRING HILL COLLEGE, BISHOP STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE OR COASTAL ALABAMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE (D)
Valid faculty ID card and photo ID issued by eligible institution required.
 
VISITING FACULTY (I)
Faculty from outside the Mobile area who present a letter of introduction from their home library may receive borrowing privileges. Photo ID required.
 
PURCHASER OF SECONDARY PATRON CARD (H)
Adult researchers who have exhausted the resources of their local public library may apply for a card. If application is approved, an annual fee of $50.00 will be charged. Photo ID required.
Note: Students enrolled in local schools and colleges should use their own libraries. They are not eligible for Marx Library Courtesy Cards.
 
SPECIAL APPROVED LOCAL PROGRAMS (E)

  1.  High School International Baccalaureate Programs: Must be included on the library’s list of students and present a photo ID.
  2.  National Science Foundation NSF/REU: Must be included on the library’s list of students and present a photo ID.

GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS RESEARCHERS (E)
Community members may borrow circulating U.S. Government documents. Photo ID required.

Photocopying & Printing: 10 cents per page. Purchase a TRACcard at the Circulation Desk.
 
Remote Access to USA-licensed Databases: Not available. Only current USA students and employees are eligible for remote access to USA databases. Note: All Alabama school and public libraries offer free Alabama Virtual Library (AVL) cards.
 
Interlibrary Loan: Not available.
 
The University of South Alabama Libraries reserve the right to limit access to the non-USA community, if necessary, in order to give priority service to USA faculty, students, and staff. We also reserve the right to revoke library cards of patrons who abuse their borrowing privileges.

Borrowing Privileges Exceptions

Non-Affiliated borrowing privileges:

  1. Do not include materials in Biomedical Libraries, Instructional Media, or Mitchell College of Business Library.
  2. Do not include Interlibrary Loan Service.
  3. Do not include remote access to USA-licensed databases.
  4. Do not allow “Hold” or “Recall” of materials checked out by USA faculty/students.
