What is a library? A building with books that you can borrow, right? This is true, but book borrowing is actually one of the smallest things we do here at the Marx Library. So if we aren't just a repository for books, what do we do, what do we have, and why do you need to know?
Chat Hours:
Library hours differ - check the Marx Library homepage
Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 8:00pm
Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Please be patient; we may be helping others.

Did you know that you can reserve a room in the Marx Library for your student group to meet? We have four rooms that can be reserved for your student function. To reserve a room, please visit the Meeting Room Usage Policy page.
There are many places to study in the library, from private study rooms with doors that close, to open space in the Learning Commons for group work. There are also quiet little nooks with individual desks and big open areas with comfy chairs. Here at the Marx, we have a space to fit everyone's preferences!
The Marx Library Circulation Desk is located on the first floor as you enter the library and is often the first point of contact for students. This is where you can check out books, reserve materials, reload your Jag ID with printing funds, etc. If you don't know where to start or need more information, head to Circulation and they'll point you in the right direction!
The Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) has FREE tutoring for all subjects. They can help you prepare for a test, figure out a problem that is eluding you, and help you organize and get started on your next paper. If you would like to contact the CAE to set up tutoring or writing help, please contact them through their page.
The Marx Library Learning Commons is a great spot for USA students to work together on projects. To use the Learning Commons, you will need to sign in and have a valid USA student or faculty ID.
Inside, you'll find a help desk, comfy lounge seating, computers, group study rooms, whiteboards, a small classroom, and two collaboration stations where you can share content from laptops, phones, and tablets.
Interlibrary Loan allows Marx to request and borrow materials from other libraries should those materials not be accessible through our own collection. So should you ever find a relevant book, eBook, or journal article that's not available at our library, you can submit an Interlibrary Loan request to get the information you need from another institution!
Did you know that the Marx Library has two art galleries and holds many events throughout the year? We have everything from a spring Jazz Festival called JAWSFest to relaxation events during finals week (crafts, puzzles, free cocoa, and more). If you would like to know more about any upcoming events, follow us on Instagram @marx.library.
In our first floor hallway is the Gallery Hall and on our third floor is the Mary Elizabeth and Charles Bernard Rodning Gallery of Art. Both galleries exhibit everything from arts and crafts to oil paintings, all from regional and local artists. For more information about what is currently in our galleries, go to the USA Libraries Art Galleries page.
