The University of South Alabama has chosen Art Spiegelman's Maus as its 2016-2017 Common Read/Common World book. This graphic novel is the story of Mr. Spiegelman's father's time in the concentration camps of Nazi Germany and its lasting effects on him. In 1992, Maus was the Pulitzer Prize winner in the Special Awards and Citations category; it was the first graphic novel/comic book to have been awarded a Pulitzer and it remains the only one.
