About Frye Gaillard

Frye Gaillard is the University of South Alabama Writer in Residence. He specializes in Southern history and culture and has written extensively on race relations in the South. He was the recipient of the 2005 Lillian Smith Award for best Southern non-fiction for Cradle of Freedom, a book that also received recognition from the Alabama Library Association as the 2007 non-fiction Book of the Year.
