What is Citation Management Software?
Citation management (or reference management) software allows scholars to maintain bibliographic records of the articles, books, and other sources they use for research. Using this software allows a researcher to keep track of citations, generate bibliographies, identify cross-references, and sometimes search within the keywords or full-text of a source.
There are many different types of citation management software. Some software is available for free, while other programs can be purchased individually or accessed through a library subscription. Check out this LibGuide created by the University of Toronto to learn more about what software is available and compare free and subscription options.
