The Refugee Olympic Team

For the first time, the International Olympic Committee has named 10 athletes to be part of its Refugee Olympic Team (ROT). They will march under the Olympic flag. The athletes are competing in a variety of sports. See the full story at the official site of the Olympic Games. The 10 athletes, their sports, and their countries of orgin are:

  5. Anjelina Nada Lohalith: athletics 1500m (South Sudan)
  6. Rose Nathike Lokonyen: athletics 800m (South Sudan)
  7. Paulo Amotun Lokoro: athletics 1500m (South Sudan)
  8. Yolande Bukasa Mabika: judo (Democratic Republic of the Congo)
  9. Yusra Mardini: swimming (Syria)
