Systematic Reviews: The Literature Search

IOM Standard 3.1: "Conduct a Comprehensive Systematic Search for Evidence."

According to the Institute of Medicine (IOM), "the search for evidence and critical assessment of the individual studies identified are the core of a systematic review (SR)."  In order to perform a systematic review, numerous databases and sources should be searched in order to make sure relevant studies and resources are not overlooked.

Useful Databases for Systematic Reviews

Databases contained herein are excellent resources to search both for systematic reviews and also for single studies that could serve as the basis for a systematic review.  (Note: database access via this page is restricted to currently-enrolled students, faculty, and staff of the University of South Alabama.   These databases may also be accessed via the Database List page on the homepage of the Biomedical Library.)
