USA Health showcases patient artwork through Healing Arts Exhibit

MOBILE, Alabama (Aug. 28, 2025) – USA Health invites the community to experience the transformative power of art at the upcoming “Healing Arts” exhibit, featuring works created by adult oncology patients from the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute and pediatric patients from USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital.

The exhibit will be on display from September 15 through October 24, 2025, at the University of South Alabama’s Charles M. Baugh Biomedical Library, located at 5791 USA Drive North, Mobile, AL 36688, on the third floor. Visitors can view a variety of patient-created artwork, from paintings and mixed-media pieces to creative expressions that reflect resilience, hope, and healing. The exhibit is free and open to the community.

The library is open to the public Monday through Thursday from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 p.m., and Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.

An opening reception will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the Biomedical Library. Donations are welcome during the reception to support the Children’s & Women’s Hospital and Mitchell Cancer Institute art therapy funds, which help sustain and grow these vital programs. Guests are asked to register for the free event by October 5 at usahealthsystem.com/healingarts or by calling 251-414-8042.

The Healing Arts initiative is made possible through collaborations with the Eastern Shore Art Center (ESAC) and The Zoe Foundation. At the Mitchell Cancer Institute, The Zoe Foundation funds an artist-in-residence, Margaret Wielbut, who provides art therapy to adult oncology patients during their infusion treatments, offering a meaningful and therapeutic outlet during their cancer journey. At Children’s & Women’s Hospital, a partnership with ESAC brings engaging art opportunities to hospitalized pediatric patients. The Zoe Foundation has expanded these activities for patients who visit the pediatric infusion suite.
