Margaret Renkl will discuss her collection of essays, exploring family, identity and our relationship to the natural environment. Her short chapters offer powerful reflections on her upbringing in Alabama, touching on both home and faith and tracing a tender and honest portrait of her complicated parents and of the bittersweet moments that accompany a child’s transition to caregiver
Margaret Renkl is the author of Late Migrations: A Natural History of Love and Loss (2019), Graceland, at Last: Notes on Hope and Heartache from the American South (2021) and The Comfort of Crows: A Backyard Year (2023). She has been a contributing writer to the Opinion section of the New York Times since 2017. Originally from Alabama, she now resides in Nashville.
