Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program: Subject-Specific Databases

This guide will help students working on their Literature Review for their Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship project.

Why use Subject-Specific Databases?

While the University Libraries subscribe to some databases that cover a multitude of subjects (like Academic Search Complete, Scopus, etc.), sometimes researchers want to focus in on just the literature of their specific subject area.

As a student at the University of South Alabama, you have access to all the Libraries and research databases available through USA. To see a list of all the Research Databases, go to https://www.southalabama.edu/departments/library/databases.html  You can then use the Tags on the right side of the page to limit the databases to a particular subject, such as Anthropology or Political Science.

How do I know which Database to use?

How do I know which database to use? Try looking for a Subject or Course Guide on your topic. Liaison librarians have created guides for subjects or specific classes that give more detail about the resources and research process in that subject area. Check out the Course & Subject Guides section on the Libraries website: https://libguides.southalabama.edu/
