What to know before coming to study at the Learning Commons:
Study Spaces
- Only the Learning Commons will be open, for individual study.
- 50 individual study spaces are available.
- Spaces will be offered on a first come, first served basis.
- Study spaces can not be held for other students.
- All students, staff, and faculty are required to wear masks inside the Marx Library.
White Boards, Charging Station and Office Supply Usage
- Whiteboards in the Learning Commons are open to students.
- The Circulation Desk won’t be lending dry erase markers, so you will need to bring your own.
- Staplers will be provided near the Circulation Desk.
- Other office supplies will not be available.
Cleaning
- Sanitation will take approximately 30 minutes.

Charging Stations
- The Learning Commons charging station will not be available at this time.
Reference Assistance
- All reference help will be done remotely through reference chat service and Zoom.
- Scroll to the bottom of our COVID-19 page to find the chat boxes and current reference hours.
Restrooms
- One set of restrooms will be offered on the first-floor (Women’s restroom by Starbucks and men’s restroom by the auditorium).
- Only two people are allowed in the bathrooms at a time.
Food and Drink
- Due to Covid-19, food and drink allowances have been restricted. No food or drink, other than water, is allowed.
- Filtered water dispensers will not be accessible to students.
- All water fountains have been disabled.
Outdoor Seating
- Outdoor seating is available in our courtyard area and second-floor terrace (closest to the Student Center on the south side of the Marx Library building).
- Bring your own PPE, hand sanitizer, and disinfectant.
- Practice social distancing (6+ feet).
- Do not adjust chairs or tables, as they have been arranged to maintain social distancing.
