Printing/Downloading Restrictions

There is no DRM (digital rights management) on Elsevier ebooks; however, systematic downloading and printing of Elsevier ebooks is not allowed.

Searching

The Marx Library has a limited number of Elsevier (ScienceDirect) ebooks, so it's best to look for them in one of three places, instead of using the ScienceDirect web site:

  1. SOUTHcat: Elsevier ebooks are cataloged, so title, keyword, author, and subjects searches will retrieve the records.
  2. OneSearch: because they are cataloged in SOUTHcat, Elsevier ebooks will show up in OneSearch
  3. Journal/Ebook List: a title search will retrieve any record with the the terms in the title.

Book Record

The ScienceDirect book detail screen provides the bibliographic information for a book, the table of contents, and tools to export the citation to a citation manager.

The table of contents area is where you can download individual chapters or export citations.

Downloading

Elsevier titles can only be downloaded chapter by chapter, not the full book as one file; however, you can choose to download all the chapters at once. This will create a zip file on your computer.
