Accessing Resources from Off Campus: EBSCO Errors

System and Other EBSCO Errors

Sometimes when using EBSCO databases or OneSearch, you may get either gibberish, a "this site can't be reached" page, or the following error:

EBSCO error

"A System Problem has Occurred. To begin a new session, please login again."

All of these errors mainly occur with satellite Internet services. In order to fix this problem, call your ISP and ask them to turn off the web accelerator to allow access to EBSCO databases. This fix is only temporary and cannot be made permanent; every time the modem reboots, you will need to call your ISP to get them to turn off the web accelerator.

These are problems on EBSCO's end, not the Library's. They recommend the following:

  1. Clear your temporary internet files, cache and browser history
  2. Restart your browser and login through the Marx Library's website again.

But we've found that contacting your isp and requesting they turn off the web accelerator is a better fix,
