Accessing Resources from Off Campus: Java

Java Errors

Sometimes when you use some of our databases, you may encounter this message: Error has occurred in script on this page.

Check another library database such as Gale or FirstSearch. If you can use these, the problem most likely lies in the fact that you either don't have Java enabled on your machine or you have an older browser. To check if Java is enabled:

Internet Explorer Firefox Safari Chrome
Choose Tools Javascript is automatically enabled in Firefox; there is no option to disable it. Choose Safari settings Click on the button that looks like a fileChrome settings
Choose Internet Options Choose Preferences Choose Settings Under Privacy, click on the Content Settings button
Choose the Security tab  
Choose Security Make sure that under Javascript, "Allow all sites to run Javascript (recommended)" is chosen.
Click on the Custom level button
Make sure Enable Java is checked Click on Done to close the settings box.
Scroll down until you see Scripting of Java applets   
Make sure Enable Javascript is checked
If Disabled is checked, check Enable Click on the X to close the box
Click OK
Click OK again
