A guide to library resources for the America and the World learning community.

Finding Country Information

The following sites provide reliable information about countries worldwide.

Selected Reference Books in the University Library

Reference books can be a great source of background information. Below is a list of only a few of the reference books held by the Marx Library that may be useful to you in your group project.

Finding Books

To find books, search the library catalog. To search for phrases like "Middle East" use quotation marks around the phrase. Using a ? acts as a wildcard, so searching Africa? will find Africa, African, Africana, etc. Combine keywords to find books on a country and a specific topic (example search: rwanda genocide).

Finding Articles

Newspaper, magazine, and journal articles can be good sources of information. Several places to search are listed below - if you run into problems, ask for help!
